Where to now? Using assessment for and as teaching in the early years mathematics classroom
“In classrooms, formative assessment refers to frequent, interactive assessments of student progress and understanding to identify learning needs and adjust teaching appropriately.” It “… promotes higher levels of student achievement … and improved learning to learn skills” (OECD/CERI International Conference, 2018)
The workshop will focus on using formative assessment to assess student understanding, knowledge and skills and plan next steps in their learning. Elements of effective task design will be embedded into this workshop as we explore ways to gather evidence of student learning, provide feedback and design learning and teaching lesson sequences in mathematics.
This workshop is designed for teachers of early years students (F-3).
